Sandhill cranes dance
NOV 21, 2007 - Time to relax. A short walk today, perhaps 4 or 5 miles, to see sunrise over the marshes of Eagle Bay, from Parrott Avenue to the edge of the ranch, where the trailer parks begin. Ginny and I encounter unexpected delights- the sounds of birds stirring, the whir of wings above, the sandhill cranes dancing and prancing, the caracara gathering grass in their beaks (perhaps for a nest?), the flock of pink birds against blue sky - roseate spoonbills? flamingos? - with dark black on their undersides. Slow pace, no race, a delightful morning prior to breaking camp and moving to South Bay.
