Barrier Free Nature Trail

Coastal prairie along Barrier Free TrailAt the ranger station, we stopped in for a map and discovered the first of four walks on the island, the Barrier Free Nature Trail. Built as a Boy Scout project, this 0.4 mile loop has a graded path wide enough for two wheelchairs to pass and six touch-activated interpretive speakers, each marked with a concrete step on the path to alert the visually impaired.
