I stumbled across Crews Lake Park some years ago while driving a back road between New Port Richey and Dade City – lucky me to see the brown sign and take the turn! Now, the Suncoast Parkway goes whizzing past the entrance and there’s an exit to jump right off at SR 52.
Crews Lake offers a nice shady interpretive trail with an arboretum of native trees, and a longer loop that gets you into sandhills and scrub habitats for up to three miles of walking. And then there’s the lake. It’s a breezy lakeshore, so stop in for a picnic lunch and an relaxing afternoon break, a chance to fish or paddle the lake.

i don’t know what crews lake sandy was at, but the 1 she’s talking about has’nt had a lake in 7 or 8 years BONE dry since they build all those sub division around the park and drained all the wet lands around there.
as far as the park goes the trails are nice and there is the pasco train musium that you can rent for birthdays and i think every 2nd saturday each month you can ride the vintage steam train anyway don’t plan on fishing there is car camping and a great wooden tower to look out over the dry lake and the boat ramp is still there so make sure you drive down it.

I am so sorry to hear that! My last visit was about 5 years ago and yes, there was water in the lake. But I’m not surprised with all that ridiculous development around the Suncoast Parkway (which is why they built it, of course) that the lake is gone. I’ll have to revisit. Thanks for the heads-up.
The reason why there is no water in crews lake is not all the developments they are pumping 150,000 gallons of Pasco water every day to Pinellas. I have a relative that works for the county and that is whats happening.
I drove 26 miles from Holiday, Florida to go fishing and kayaking at Crews Lake..Boy what a surprise I got when I got there and the lake was empty..What a dam shame…It should be taken off the web sites as one of the great fishing lakes in this area..Maybe once but not anymore..
