Exploring the Econfina Nature Trail

North of Panama City, this little-known trail is a real gem. I discovered it last month while canvassing the region for new places to hike, and what a delight to find a trail that showcases some of the best geology this area has to offer. The Econfina Nature Trail starts at Pitt Spring off SR 20, and winds its way through the forests past a parade of bubbling springs and sinkholes to high bluffs above the creek. Dropping down to the water’s edge, it passes more springs and a jumbled karst landscape before ending up at a second major spring more beautiful than the first.
