Florida State Parks: No Longer at Risk

The good news is in from several sources, most importantly, confirmed by DEP: the Governor’s budget covers the funding gap needed to keep ALL of our Florida State Parks open, and includes an ask for increased fees from the more heavily used state parks to help cover future shortfalls to ensure proper stewardship of ALL of our 160-plus award-winning Florida State Parks.

Thanks to everyone who emailed Governor Crist, DEP Secretary Michael Sole, and Florida State Parks Director Mike Bullock… plus your local legislators! I’m sure your combined outpouring of concerns made a big difference. Please consider sending a follow-up thank you to Governor Crist and a reminder to Speaker of the House Larry Cretul to encourage our legislature to pass this version of the Governor’s budget.
