The Florida State Forests system is managed by the Florida Division of Forestry and offers a special program for hikers – the Trailwalker Program.
With rare exceptions, Florida State Forest trails count towards Trailwalker status. Our state forests are certainly diverse, from the swampy Big Cypress habitats of Picayune State Forest near Naples to the rugged clay bluffs of Blackwater River State Forest near Pensacola. While most trails are multi-use, some are special gems that shouldn’t be missed.
