I received an alert from Carl Roth regards a decision to be made by DEP this week to approve or deny a permit for a landfill by Angelo’s Aggregate Materials in the Green Swamp. Now we know that development keeps nibbling away at this important watershed, so it’s especially depressing to hear of a company getting close to approval of a landfill in the birthplace of the Hillsborough, Peace, Withlacoochee, and Ocklawaha Rivers. The Florida Trail and its associated loops in the Green Swamp as well as Withlacoochee River Park, Withlacoochee State Forest / Richloam, Colt Creek State Park, and Gator Creek Preserve are all hiking areas within the Green Swamp, a fragile mosaic of pine flatwoods and cypress domes.
If you’d like to make your voice heard regards this issue, please visit the website www.trashtoash.com for details. Time is of the essence, the state decision will be made this Friday. I’d think it smart to ask our DEP officials to deny such a permit. Thank you!

This is one of the most bonehead ideas I’ve heard lately. How can they even consider such a thing?
PS the website link ‘www.trashtoash.com’does not work.
Fixed it! Thanks for the heads-up.
