According to the Naples Daily News, two new hiking trails have opened in Conservation Collier lands to the east of Naples. Both are tiny nature preserves that offer residents a little immersion into the natural habitats displaced by construction in that part of the Big Cypress Swamp.
Alligator Flag Preserve, with an entrance across from Gulf Coast High School along Immokalee Road, has a walk-in entrance to a seasonally flooded trail in the 18-acre preserve. Details…
Limpkin Marsh Preserve is only 9 acres in size, but it’s in the Corkscrew corridor of natural lands between CREW and the Fakahatchee Strand. Access the trail at this new preserve via Sanctuary Road off Immokalee Road – it’s on the way in to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, but not a part of the Audubon Preserve. Details…
