Here’s a quick look I took last night from the canoe put-in at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park. The Suwannee River is still over 70 feet, well over flood stage and certainly swamping the Florida Trail, as evidenced by short walks in either direction from this spot. While the waters have receded somewhat around Big Shoals, the Suwannee section of the Florida Trail remains impassable for now. Keep an eye on the flood reports from the Suwannee River Water Management District if you’re planning a trek out there anytime in the near future.
